As part of our Me Made May Series, Parliament is proud to be hosting a variety of DIY Workshops for learning to create your own garments and accessories. We're stoked to bring another footwear class to West Michigan finally, after many years of requests at our space!
Elyse Marie Welcher of Littlewings Designs will lead this workshop, where participants will trace their own feet, learn to create a basic pattern, and build a pair of simple, leather-soled flip-flops. Leather soled shoes are incredibly comfortable and durable, and these flip-flops make the best comfy beach sandals that form to your feet as you wear them!
Cost of the workshop is $80 per participant, and will take place on Saturday 5/13, from 10am-1pm at Parliament the Boutique. Workshop includes the following:
-leather and supplies to build one pair of flip-flops. Participants will have options between black, brown, and veg-tan straps for their sandals.
-3 hours of instruction in the Parliament studio space with Elyse Marie
-access to tools and machinery to create flip-flops
-follow-up finishing time (as needed)
When signing up, participants will be asked their preferred strap color, as well as their shoe size. Shoe sizes are in standard American sizing.
This workshop will require skills in tracing, cutting leather, and utilizing sharp tools, and therefore is not appropriate for children. Thanks!
