As we get in the swing of spring and examine our wardrobes in honor of Me-Made-May, join us for a Sashiko Patching Workshop at Parliament the Boutique and learn to bring your old garments new life!
Elyse Marie Welcher of Littlewingsdesigns will lead this class, where you will learn to patch garments using the traditional Sashiko patching method. A form of Japanese embroidery, sashiko stitch patching is a sturdy and beautiful way to revitalize favorite garments from standard woven fibers, such as jeans, shirts, and skirts!
This class will be hosted at the 136 S Division Space on Sunday, 5/7, from 3pm-6pm.
Cost per participant is $20. Please bring 1-3 garments you would like to patch! Your workshop fee includes:
-Embroidery floss to stitch up to three patches
-selection of scrap fabrics to choose from for patching
-3 needles for future patching
-small instructional zine for future reference
-3 hours of instructional time at the Parliament space
